The Independent Republic of Nicimia (?/nɪ.ˈsɪ.miː.ə/; Virassian: Սանﬔ Նիսիﬕա Ռէսպօբլիկօ tr. Sanme Nisimia Respubliku), was a short-lived Virassian breakaway state on the eastern coast of Amlei controlled by the People's Revolutionary Front. Formerly comprising some of Virassia's most vital regions, a prolonged period of uprisings of Nicimia's working class and peasants broke out in defiance of Virassian rule, brewed by decades of denial of universal suffrage in spite of more and more neighbouring nations, such as Etruarand, undergoing popular social reform in the wake of the bourgeois revolutions that transformed them fifty years prior. Agitated to a thoroughly revolutionary consciousness by the effects of the Great Crash, the Virassian Civil War, an unrelenting state repression, and the tireless work of the People's Revolutionary Front party amongst dozens of other political organisations, the nation successfully won control of its claimed lands during the Nicimian Revolution, becoming an independent republic in the winter of 1899.
By 1901 the Civil War was drawing to a close, and with the outbreak of the World War, Nicimia's independence was on borrowed time. With the crucial support from Atraeth withdrawn following the declaration of war, as well as the crushing of the anarchist movement that kept the Virassian state heavily occupied, the newly established Schamiltist regime marched uninterrupted to the east, conquering the Nicimian nation with little difficulty.
