Sine Weythern (Amulni: ვს჻ჵჟჷს tr. Sine Weythern, trans. "Free Nation", pronounced ?/saɪn.weɪ.θɨn/; Amulni pronunciation [sɪ.nɛ.weɪ.θɛ.ɹɛn]), commonly abbreviated to S.W., is a major power of Urcinne and an emerging world power. The nation is bordered by Aurygus and Poscia to the north, Oymlunei to the south, and the self-declared former Sineal state of Quenylga to the west.
History[edit | edit source]
The continent of Urcinne was first settled by humans around 30,000 BCE, possibly sailing across from the southern tip of Cymlun into the islands of the Inner Sea before migrating further inland. While class societies arose by around 10,000 BCE in south Urcinne, the island nations of the Inner Sea. and in the plains of north of the continent by the predecessors of the modern day Opelitl, Inner Sea Islanders, and Yumeran Jaaqates, the jungles of central Urcinne saw no such societal development, with classless hunter-gatherer societies persisting for thousands of years before the arrival of colonial settlers, albeit influenced by trade with northern and southern peoples.
The first western Amleian settlers to colonise the continent was a fleet of Janisserist Astralists led by the self-sanctified prophet Janisser Palisce in 1168 CE. Opposed throughout his life to the decadence and corruption of the Orthodox church of Astralism, in 1149 Janisser received a vision from the Truth God telling him to reform the church in a new land far from the reach of the corrupt Astralist church. Almost nineteen years later Janisser led the first holy expedition to Urcinne and founded the nation of Sine Weythern as a Janisserist haven. He died in the following year of what is possibly a tropical disease contracted while helping his fellow congregation clear the Urcinnan jungles and marshes for settlement.
In 1170 the Ducassy of Settler's ground was partitioned by the makeshift nation-state, headed by the son of Janisser, Fedris Palisce. Through the periodic influx of Amleian immigrants fleeing persecution, Settler's Ground expanded, and by 1192 the two new vassal states of Janissera and Meywen states were founded to accommodate, and more effectively rule, the new peasant lands up and down the eastern coast.
in 1199 the nation of Amulna, seeing the nation of Sine Weythern becoming a significant pole of attraction for heretics and a threat to the influence of the Orthodox Church of Astralism, called for a crusade against the nation, conquering the nation through superior force and establishing it as an Amulnan offshore territory. The sparse thousands of Janisserists who were not killed or did not surrender fled west to start life anew in the Urcinnan wilderness.

Governance[edit | edit source]
Sine Weythern is a federal parliamentary constitutional theocracy. Its legislature is modelled off the Xhequan-based Iqualni System, and is known as The Janniserisy. A bicameral system, it is divided into the Banquet of Upper Clergy (i.e. upper house) and the Banquet of Representatives (i.e. lower house). Sine Weythern has throughout its existence been heavily federalised, with power concentrated evenly between state governors and the clergy.
The Banquet of Upper Clergy is comprised of 40 seats, and is comprised of Mocassors and the incumbent Ducassor of Sine Weythern. The Banquet of Upper Clergy is not popularly elected, with voting restricted to the clerical members of the Banquet. The Banquet of Representatives is comprised of 100 seats. The number of seats has not been historically fixed, and has varied with population growth, with the number of state representatives increasing on a gradual basis since the house's foundation after the 1816 war of independence. Representatives are popularly elected, and serve 4-year terms.
