The Virassian-Pyorencian War of 1026 - 1030 was a conflict between the recently unified Kingdom of Virassia and the Kingdom of Pyorencia. A short but brutal conflict, the war resulted in a humiliating defeat of King Rodimir I and the surrender of a considerable amount of land to Pyorencia and its vassals

    Prelude[edit | edit source]

Relations between Virassia and its neighours had been shaky at best after its unification war at the turn of the Millennium, as an emerging power of a heathen religion Virassia certainly posed a considerable threat to both Orthodox and Sinana Astralist kingdoms of the the continent. The zealous attitude of King Rodimir I and considerable expansion of Pyorencia under King Anderlyn IV over the last few years had brought the two into a rivalry as Virassia blocked further southward expansion and Pyorencia presented themselves as the invading heathens to the Necrist Virassia. Planning to curb Pyorencian power after their vassalization of the petty kingdoms of Eserbin and Palusia, Rodimir planned to march north with a considerably large army including 1200 elite Knights to end the Pyorencian threat once and for all.

    War[edit | edit source]

War was declared during July of 1026 and the Virrasian army crossed the Palu river into the vassal kingdom of Palusia encountering minimal resistance as the Kingdoms recent conquest had left its army much depleted, the Pyorencians meanwhile had hastily formed a host with which to repel the invaders aswell as calling upon their other vassal Eserbin to gather its forces. King Anderlyn IV, an experienced general by this point took command of roughly 8000 infantry but only had a minimal force of cavalry under his command. Marching south along the coast the now ravaged Palusia while the Virassian force continued its way north entering the border of Pyorencia proper.

Battle of Cessena[edit | edit source]
