The Crown of Mordras was a colonial Amulndian nation founded after exodus into the Great Wildlands began following the collapse of the Amulndian Empire, with many ethnic Amulndians participating in the mass migration. In the latter half of its existence, Mordras had fractured internally to the point where the nation was no longer a centralised federation but a loose alliance of hostile Ducassies each vying for the Crown.
History[edit | edit source]
The Crown of Mordras was first declared in 494CE upon the declaration of an exodus from the former lands of Amulndia towards a new frontier in the west by High Priest Arodane of Belessia, foremost amongst the Amleian priests, however existed more as a crusading order led by the knights of the church for many years. In the years after the East-west Schism the Order of the Glass Star was created by holy decree of Arodane after years of Necrist raiding upon the crown to protect the pilgrims who wished to leave the old empire, becoming a prestigious order of knights and nobility in the years to come.
In 495 CE the Ducassor Hanry IV, the then current bearer of the Crown of Mordras, passed a motion declaring Lyniela as the new holy city of the gods, rightful successor of the Amulndian Empire and central authority to all Astralist nations. The Crown of Mordras' ruling ducassors Johan, Nicilas and Rasilel, however the well-established and powerful ducassies of the north, ruled by the ducassors Salwon and Charñon, refused the decree, citing the writings of the Prophet Sinana and his preachings of humility and frugality as they declared Hanry a power-hungry despot and misguided Astralist attempting to rule a kingdom of his own in the far western lands of the. Hanry promptly declared the northern ducassies as ossified children of corruption due to their refusal to leave the lands of old Amulndia during the great exodus. With their differences irreconcilable, the Disesnea-Lyniela Schism occurred, resulting in the formation of the Sinana sect in the north and the Orthodox sect in the west and south of the continent.
In 508 CE the Kralars Plague swept across Amlei, spreading through the tropical northern Amleian coasts. The political and religious strife that followed caused a mass migration of thousands through the lands of central Amlei towards to lands of Mordras. This mass migration left a lasting impact on all the lands of Central Amlei, with settlers colonising lands from the astrary river in what is modern-day Virassia across to the Mordrasi coast.
By 919 CE, Mordras was no longer the unified empire it once was, with the Ducassors of Orthdox Astralism now seemingly locked in a near constant state of war for control of the crown. As an attempt to put an end to the destabilising conflict, the then rightful bearer of the crown Ducassor Jeneai III, later known as Jeneai the Great, split the crown's territories into its key Ducassies, with the Grand Ducassy of Gincae created around the city of Lyniela as a holy nation directly controlled by the church and not by a hereditary ruler, which would be governed by an elected body of nine grand ducassors who would share amongst themselves the task of leading the church.
