The Variyakoi Civil War (Wunal: ጀዊ፡ፆዶክረሠዎ፡ነየ᎐ኼ᎐ሢርኪትኪ tr. Yawi Odokcracawo Naja'ǩe'sirkitki lit. The Odokcracian Freedom-War) was a conflict in Neira which saw the state of Variyako embroiled in a sereies of brutal ethno-wars between the imperial government and the national minorities of Odokcracians, Umlokovi's, Justavkans and Zeleovkians. It resulted in the Odokcracian Democratic Republic succeed from the Sublime Zanikoji of Variyako and the other minorities to be given autonomy within the Variyakoi empire. It is often understood to be a proxy war between Saeyri and Atraeth.
Background[edit | edit source]
Odokcraca[edit | edit source]
The Kingdom of Odokcraca had long been an independent nation on the Neiran continent possessing a unique culture distinct from it neighbours. The spread of Soziti saw Odokcraca become more closely affiliated with the still-rising regional power of Variyako, although the nation soon adopted the Sejaveti school of Soziti, rather then the mainstream Kruiči branch practiced in Variyako. For a time this enabled Odokcraca to retain independence. Its geographic location, which sees the nation surrounded by mountains and rivers similar to the northern Neiran state of Tzolkun, helped deter a potential invasion from Variyako and thus for a long time Odokcraca was able to retain independence. However, Variyakoi expansion into Umlokovy, Justavka and Zeleovki saw the future of Odokcraca remain uncertain. In 1460 Variyako began an invasion of Odokcraca, where after 13 years they finally conquered the region. After the invasion the population was Variyakoified were the majority were expected to convert to Kruiči Soziti, a move that angered the majority Sejaveti population.
