Herzeg Zubak (Wunal: ሄርዜግ፡ዙበክ) is a Variyakoi diplomat. Born into a family of rich aristocrats who had married into the royal family, he rose through the political hierarchy after being appointed the governor of several provinces. Zubak was the governor of the Ivnaǩa province during the Variyakoi Civil War where he rose to prominence after brutally suppressing dissidents and separatist Justavkans within the province. Following the civil war he was appointed to the Imperial Council, and in 1889 upon a personal order by Vukomanovića XII was made the Ambassador to Saeyri. During the Xhangsong Rebellion Zubak was alone within the Imperial court in supporting Juotsou Hou-gemgun, which led him to ascending through the imperial ranks after Juotsou consolidated power. As Saeyri continues to be Variyako's most important ally Zubak's influence has increased within the imperial court.
Zubak is widely considered to be a modernist within the court, advocating for greater industrialisation, state control of the economy, rule of law, and military modernisation as well as expanding Variyako's foreign contacts. Zubak has been credited for the close relations between Vairyako and Saeyri but has been equally criticised for interfering with the armed forces and sacrificing Variyakoi relations with other countries.
