Aggurat (Official name), historically known as Seoni Anyukai (Seonmi: ㄔㄜㄛㄌㄇㄚㄋㄚㄘㄨㄎㄞㄅㄠㄛㄊㄒㄚㄐㄚ tr. Seonymananyukaibauottsāja, trans. "State of Seoni Anyukai"), is a predominately Seonmi-speaking nation bordered by Saeyri to its north, Flaigasil to the east, and Umurabn to the south.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The origin of the name "Aggurat" is, while largely unverified, often attributed as being a localised spelling of Angurtat, a city in the east of Aggurat which has been an historic bastion of Zohur extremists. The name is used by the Anyukaimi-dominated government for diplomatic reasons to avoid stoking conflict with its significant Zohur minority.

Religious groups[edit | edit source]
According to official records, 34% of the population practice Seonsol, with 14% practicing Hanuda or Hanuda-influenced Seonsol. 33% of the population are Zohurists, concentrated in the western regions of and nation, and the remaining 19% are Astralists, concentrated in the south. Seonsol was abolished as the state religion by the Anyukaimi government in 1879 as an attempt to quell the Zohur separatism during the Second Zohur Rebellion which threatened to tear the nation asunder on a scale not seen since the First Rebellion.
Ethnic groups[edit | edit source]
In a 1900 census, 59% of the population identified as Anyukai, whereas 36% identified as Zohur. A futher 5% identified as other ethnicities, mostly Seoni, Kryshur and Kennyr. For centuries tensions between the predominant Anyukai and Zohur people have been high, with the nation having a long civil struggle against extremist Zohur nationalists and their attempts to overthrow the Saeyri-dominated regime and to create a Zohur majority nation.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- ↑ Typically used to refer to the whole nation
- ↑ Typically used to refer to the ethnic Anyukai and Seonsol-practicing state government and people of the nation, as opposed to "Zohur", which is used to refer to the Zohur people and the frequently self-declared Zohur controlled regions in the nation's east.
